Our Comparison Methodology: How We Test, Verify, and Update Every Verdict
No other GLP-1 comparison site publishes its methodology. We think you should know exactly how we evaluate providers, what we check, what we can't check, and where our conflicts of interest lie.
CompareGLP-1.com exists because the GLP-1 telehealth market is confusing, fast-moving, and full of providers making claims that are hard to verify. We're not doctors, we're not a medical practice, and we don't prescribe medication. What we do is research, compare, and publish verdicts on telehealth platforms — and we think you deserve to know exactly how we do that.
This page is our full methodology. It covers what we evaluate, how we verify pricing, how we handle the fact that many of our links are affiliate links, and what we explicitly cannot assess.
Our Five Principles
We make calls. Every head-to-head comparison ends with a verdict: which provider is better for a specific use case, and why. We don't list features and leave you to figure it out. If we can't reach a verdict, we say why and tell you what additional information would change our assessment.
Intro pricing gets the headline. Ongoing pricing gets the table. We always show what happens after the promotion ends, what happens when your dose increases, and what conditions are attached to advertised rates. A "$49/month" that becomes $449/month gets disclosed as exactly that.
Every affiliate link is marked with a visible "Paid link" label and uses rel="sponsored" in the HTML. Provider commission rates don't influence our rankings — but they exist, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. The Conflicts of Interest section below lists every material relationship.
We don't take a provider's marketing copy at face value. Pricing is verified against checkout flows, Terms of Service documents, and independent patient reports. FDA Warning Letters are confirmed against the FDA database. Guarantee terms are pulled from the provider's own legal documents, not their ads.
The GLP-1 market changes fast. A pricing table from three months ago may be wrong today. Every article on this site carries a publication date and a last-updated date. We re-verify pricing, eligibility, and format availability quarterly. If something changes between cycles, we update immediately when we learn about it.
What We Evaluate
Our comparisons assess providers across seven dimensions. Not every article covers all seven — a pricing audit focuses on cost, while a speed ranking focuses on intake process. But the full framework looks like this:
- Pricing transparency: Is the advertised price the actual ongoing price? Are there hidden fees, membership costs, or dose-dependent increases? Is intro-vs-ongoing pricing clearly communicated before checkout?
- Medication access: What molecules (semaglutide, tirzepatide), what formats (injectable, oral tablet, sublingual, dissolvable), and what dose ceiling? Is the provider dispensing compounded or brand-name products?
- Clinical rigor: Does the intake include a meaningful medical evaluation? Are lab requirements appropriate? Is there ongoing monitoring and follow-up?
- Intake speed: How long from account creation to medication shipped? Measured in four stages: signup, questionnaire, prescriber review, and pharmacy fulfillment.
- Consumer protections: What are the cancellation, refund, and guarantee policies? How easy is it to leave? Are subscription terms auto-renewing?
- Regulatory compliance: Does the provider have FDA Warning Letters on file? Do they properly disclose the compounded status of their medications? Are their prescribers verifiable through state licensing boards?
- Patient support: What support channels exist (email, chat, phone)? What are typical response times? Is clinical support available between appointments?
How We Verify Pricing
Pricing is the most important — and most volatile — data we publish. Here's our verification process:
- Primary source: The provider's own website, including landing pages, checkout flows, and FAQ sections.
- Legal documents: Terms of Service and pricing disclosures, which often contain details not shown on marketing pages (e.g., Embody's ongoing refill pricing, SHED's guarantee change, Gala's cancellation terms).
- Independent validation: Patient-reported pricing from forums, review sites, and independent publications. When our verified pricing conflicts with a patient report, we investigate and note the discrepancy.
- Quarterly re-verification: Every price in our comparison table is re-checked against provider websites at least once per quarter. The last full verification was July 17, 2026.
We don't make test purchases (we'd need to provide real medical information and receive controlled medications, which raises ethical and legal issues). This means our pricing reflects what providers advertise and disclose, not necessarily what appears at the final checkout screen for every patient. If you encounter pricing that differs from what we've published, we want to hear about it — use our contact page.
How We Handle FDA Warning Letters
Several providers in the GLP-1 telehealth space have received FDA Warning Letters. These are public documents available on the FDA's website. When a provider we cover has a Warning Letter on file, we:
- Display a visible warning banner on every page where that provider appears
- Link to the FDA's Warning Letter database where the letter can be read in full
- Note what the Warning Letter addresses (which may or may not be related to the GLP-1 products they offer)
- Do not automatically exclude the provider from our comparisons — a Warning Letter is a fact to disclose, not necessarily a disqualification
Providers currently requiring FDA Warning Letter disclosure on this site: MEDVi, Strut Health, Sprout Health, Direct Meds, and SkinnyRx. This list is updated as new Warning Letters are issued or resolved.
Conflicts of Interest
We believe in transparency about money. Here's how this site earns revenue:
- Affiliate commissions: When you click an affiliate link on this site and sign up with a provider, we receive a commission. These commissions range from $50 to $500 per qualified signup depending on the provider. The commission amount does not influence which provider we recommend — but it does mean we have a financial interest in you signing up through our links rather than going directly to a provider's website.
- Affiliate network: Most of our affiliate relationships are managed through the Katalys (RevOffers) platform, with some managed through Awin and direct affiliate agreements.
- No pay-for-placement: Providers cannot pay for a higher ranking, a more favorable verdict, or preferred positioning in our articles. Our editorial decisions are independent of our affiliate relationships.
- Deprioritized providers: We deprioritize certain providers regardless of commission rate when we have concerns about their practices. Currently, Synergy Rx is deprioritized to honorable mention only across this site.
We make money when you click our links and sign up. We believe this model is better than the alternatives (provider-funded content, subscription paywalls, or no independent comparison sites at all). But it is a conflict of interest, and you should know about it. If a provider offers great service and doesn't have an affiliate program, we'll still cover them — we just won't earn anything from your signup.
What We Cannot Assess
Transparency means acknowledging our limits. Here's what we don't evaluate and why:
- Clinical outcomes: We cannot assess whether patients actually lose weight, experience fewer side effects, or have better health outcomes on one platform versus another. That requires clinical data we don't have access to.
- Prescriber quality: We can verify that a provider employs licensed prescribers (NPs, PAs, MDs), but we can't evaluate the quality of their clinical judgment or the thoroughness of their individual evaluations.
- Pharmacy quality: We can identify which compounding pharmacies a provider uses (when they disclose this), but we can't independently test the quality, purity, or sterility of compounded medications.
- Long-term reliability: Telehealth startups can change pricing, close, or restructure without warning. A provider that's excellent today may not exist in six months. We can't predict business sustainability.
How to Use Our Content
Our comparisons are a starting point, not a medical recommendation. Here's how we suggest using this site:
- Use our comparisons to narrow your options from dozens of providers to 2–3 that fit your budget, format preference, and eligibility
- Verify pricing yourself at the provider's website before signing up — our data is quarterly, and pricing can change anytime
- Read our disclosures — if we have an affiliate relationship with a provider, we tell you
- Talk to your doctor — especially if you have existing health conditions, take other medications, or have questions about which molecule (semaglutide vs. tirzepatide) is appropriate for you
If you find an error in any of our content, spot pricing that's changed, or have feedback on our methodology, please contact us. We correct errors within 24 hours of verification.
